Fischer Block, Inc. Releases Firmware Version 2.0
Included in this new firmware release are a number of enhancements over Version 1.0, including DNP3 communication via Ethernet TCP/UDP protocols, significantly increasing the compatibility footprint with existing substation RTUs.
PHILADELPHIA, PA., December 28, 2017 /Media Newswire/ -- Fischer Block Inc., a leader in providing innovative high-resolution power waveform sensors and asset optimization solutions, today announced the release of firmware version 2.0, adding increased communication capabilities that enable their patented Smart Block edge device to seamlessly interface with a much broader range of existing substation Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) deployed in the field today. Following over a year of extensive field testing, Fischer Block, Inc. launched the first firmware release in April, 2017, with the goal of improving the operations of Industrial and Power Utility customers through transformational power system management and reliability solutions.

"We are proud to announce the release of firmware Version 2.0 which includes DNP3 communication via Ethernet UDP/TCP protocols, a capability a number of our customers were asking us for", stated Fischer Block, Inc. CTO Greg Wolfe. "Adding this new communication capability significantly increases our ability to broadly deploy our technology, allowing our customers in both the Utility and Industrial sectors to drive innovative new business processes and maximize the value of Fischer Block, Inc. solutions."

This new communication capability enhances the ability of the Fischer Block, Inc. Smart Block edge device to simultaneously stream traditional RMS/Power information to existing SCADA systems while, at the same time, also making high resolution oscillography and waveform analytical information accessible to engineers at remote locations, either through the Fischer Block, Inc. cloud dashboard or on-premise behind the customer firewall.
